Spring is festival season, which means plenty of opportunities to enjoy events around Charleston. While the area is always spectacular and offers plenty to do, spring gives it just that extra little something. If you are visiting during the next few months, add some of these events to your agenda.

March 4-7: The 15th Charleston Wine + Food Festival provides tastings, cooking classes, excursions and more. The event features more than 100 culinary experiences to fuel your belly and your soul. Don’t miss this gathering of top chefs, winemakers, authors, storytellers, artisans and food enthusiasts.

March 7: The Front Beach Fest in Isle of Palms kicks off the spring season with an event for the entire family. From noon to 4 p.m., visitors can enjoy this free festival, with jump castles, face painting, local arts and crafts, bands and more.

March 11-April 19: The 73rd Festival of Houses and Gardens makes a lovely outing. Step inside some of the city’s most stunning and beautiful properties during this annual event.

March 14: Enjoy the culture of the area with the annual Art Fest at the Mount Pleasant Towne Centre. With free admission and free parking, it’s a wonderful way to support local artists, dancers, and musicians while enjoying a day that showcases their talents.

March 17: Everyone loves a parade. Charleston’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade starts at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church then rolls down King and Broad streets. The parade includes bagpipes, fiddlers, marching bands, Irish step dancers and more. After the parade, keep the party going with St. Paddy’s specials in downtown restaurants, bars and pubs.

March 28: Bring Fido and enjoy the annual Pet Fest at Palmetto Islands County Park in Mount Pleasant. The event also includes several contests like the Best Trick, Owner Pet Look-Alike, Best Dog Costume and more. There will also be a Meet the Breed Family Dog Show, dog washing stations, rescue animals and other activities. The $8 per person admission fee includes a $3 coupon for pet food. Free for children 12 and under.

April 11: Of course, spring means a plethora of Easter activities at local resorts. One of those is the Golden Egg Hunt at Wild Dunes. Starting at noon, clues available at the Swim Center give the location of the Golden Easter Eggs. The hunt continues until all eggs are found or 7 p.m., whichever comes first. Check other resorts for their Easter activities.

May 22-June 7: The Spoleto Festival is 17 days and nights of performances by renowned artists. Events take place at various venues throughout the Charleston area. Enjoy opera, musical theater, dance, orchestra performances, popular music acts, art talks and much, much more.
