It’s hard to believe, but Christmas is just around the corner. That means it’s time to make plans for the most festive season ever! This year, celebrate with a coastal Christmas. Our beaches are magical, and our communities get all decked out for the holidays.

You’ll want to see the Holiday Festival of Lights at James Island County Park, open nightly Nov. 12 through Dec. 31. James Island is just over 20 miles from Kiawah Island and Isle of Palms, and the spectacular lights are well worth the drive. It’s a highlight of the season, with multiple displays, pictures with Santa, s’mores and other activities.

If you’re staying at Wild Dunes Resort, don’t miss the Holiday Festival and Oyster Roast from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26. Book a reservation now and don’t miss out on the most wonderful of celebrations, including gingerbread decorating, pictures with Santa, and more. Tickets are $15 to $40 per person.

On Isle of Palms, the Holiday Street Festival takes place from 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4 at Front Beach. Santa Claus will be there, along with arts and crafts vendors, food vendors and live entertainment.

Talk about decking the halls, the Traditional Christmas at Boone Hall Plantation pulls out all the stops Dec. 6-Jan. 3. Tours of the plantation home during the Christmas holidays are included with regular paid admission to Boone Hall Plantation. There is no additional charge to tour the mansion, which is beautifully decorated for the holidays.

A Kiawah Island holiday stay includes The Sanctuary’s official tree lighting, Santa’s Lowcountry arrival on Nov. 26 and a festive Christmas meal at one of the Island’s restaurants, including the feast of the seven fishes, a time-honored tradition served every Christmas Eve at Tomasso at Turtle Point.

On Seabrook Island, meet the Jolly Ole’ Elf himself from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 15 in the Atlantic Room at the Seabrook Island Club.

Treat yourself this holiday season with a once-in-a-lifetime coastal Christmas vacation the whole family will love.
