Things to Do

Brunch makes every Sunday a special occasion. Whether it's the Easter holiday or just another lazy weekend on the coast, it's the perfect blend. Celebrate with your favorite foods and top it off with champagne or a craft cocktail.

Kiawah Island Resort restaurants will lay out a lavish spread for Easter brunch. Enjoy Lowcountry favorites at Jasmine Porch, complimentary Bloody Mary or mimosas at The Atlantic Room at Ocean Course, Italian fare at Tomasso at Turtle Point, or simple pastries and lattes at Beaches & Cream.

Sea Biscuit Cafe in Isle of Palms is like eating Sunday brunch at Grandma's house. They serve homemade fare that will make your mouth water. Order the big, flaky biscuits, fluffy pancakes, or specialty omelets. The friendly service and authentic coastal atmosphere make the Sea Biscuit Cafe a delightful spot for your family brunch. Just a note: It's cash only, so come prepared.

Brunch enthusiasts love The Refuge, tucked into a corner in the Harris Tweeter parking lot in Isle of Palms. Their Weekend Tide menu overflows with delightful creations like baked avocado and egg, stacks of buttermilk pancakes, and shrimp and grits. The coffee bar menu boasts an array of classic brews along with elaborate specialty options.

For something a little different, dive into a Grit Bowl at Acme Lowcountry Kitchen. Bowls can include fried pecan chicken, short ribs, or fried green tomatoes. Then there's the Holy City Hash with braised corn beef, roasted potatoes, red onions and fried eggs, drizzled with smoked gouda cream. Or you can go for more traditional Lowcountry choices like crab cake eggs Benedict, a blackened shrimp omelet, or fried shrimp over pimento cheese grits and collards. It all sounds delicious to us.

The Obstinate Daughter on nearby Sullivan's Island serves an upscale brunch on Saturday and Sunday with options that include shrimp rolls, peel' n eat shrimp, Frogmore chowder, sweet potato waffles, along with pasta dishes and pizza. They partner with local producers for fresh, farm-to-table choices cooked to perfection.

The Hemingway, a small, artisanal cafe near Seabrook Island serves simple, yet delicious coffees and meticulously crafted breakfast fare. Chow down on avocado or fresh ricotta toast made with fresh-baked sourdough bread. Their Southern chicken biscuit is fat and flavorful, as are the ham & cheese baguettes and buttered croissants.

With all this filling, Lowcountry cuisine, you're going to want to pack the stretchy pants.
