Things to Do

Every season has its benefits on the South Carolina coast. The cooler months are no exception. A drop in temperatures brings added outdoor activity, with a light jacket all you need for our beautiful, sunny days.

Tennis

Tennis is in full swing during the fall and winter months, so bring your tennis racquet. On Isle of Palmspublic tennis courts at Harnett Boulevard and 28th Avenue are available on a first-come, first-serve (get it?) basis. Pay-to-play access is available at the tennis centers for guests of Wild Dunes ResortKiawah Island, and Seabrook Island

Golf

Tee off for a round of golf on one of the premier local courses. Kiawah Island boasts five courses with beautiful layouts, challenging holes, and golf for every skill level. The Harbor and Links courses at Wild Dunes Resort provide challenging straightaways and towering palms. The Ocean Winds course at Seabrook Island Resort winds through old oaks, pine trees, waterways, and dunes with plenty of hazards.

Kayaking

Coastal Expeditions at the Isle of Palms Marina takes paddlers on a tour of Morgan Creek and connecting estuaries to see the beauty of the region. Kids and adults can get back to nature by experiencing the wild side of the Lowcountry. Participants can expect to see dolphins, sea turtles, pelicans, egrets, and herons. All gear is provided.

Fishing

Fishing heats up when the temperatures cool down. Cast a line from the jetties, the beach, or onboard a charter trip. Speckled trout, redfish, and sheepshead bit core to shore and around structures such as piers.

Bicycling

Rent a bike and explore on two wheels without breaking a sweat. Alligator Bike Shop makes it simple for vacationers on Kiawah and Seabrook Islands to get set up with gear. Their trucks deliver bike rentals right to the door of your vacation rental. All these coastal communities offer plenty of paths, but Kiawah Island offers 30 miles of paved bike trails and 20 miles of hard-packed beach for riding.

Running

If youre a runner, sign up for the Kiawah Island Marathon and Half Marathon, which takes place on Dec. 10 with a start and finish at the West Beach Conference Center. The course runs through maritime forests, marshes, and beautiful neighborhoods. The runs are certified and sanctioned by the USA Track & Field Organization and the marathon is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
