Things to Do

Spring brings warmer weather, sunny skies, and school vacation. It means putting away the winter coats and gloves and getting outside to enjoy some of our favorite activities.

1. Head to the beach. Front Beach is the beautiful public beach in Isle of Palms. Of course, no coastal vacation is complete without spending quality time at the beach. Walk the shoreline or rent a lounge chair to soak in some rays. There is also a playground at the beach for younger kids.

 2. Play a round. Isle of Palms is home to a couple of beautiful and challenging courses with Wild Dunes Harbor Course and Wild Dunes Links Course. What better way to spend a spring day than playing 18 holes of premier golf?

3. Ride a bike. A bicycle is a great way to get around on Isle of Palms. Bring your own or rent a bike when you arrive. IOP Bike Rental Shop can outfit you when bikes for the whole family, along with baby trailers and baby seats. They’ll even deliver bikes to you. Isle of Palms Beach Chair Company also rents bikes.

4. Make a splash. Adventurous visitors can go paddleboarding, kayaking, or parasailing. Rent a board or boat from Coastal Expeditions, which also offers daily tours. Also, Tidal Wave Watersports re-opens this spring for Jet Ski and parasailing adventures.

5. Ride the waves. Yes, you can learn to surf. Take a lesson from an experienced outfitter like Carolina Salt. Their pros can get you up on the board in no time.

6. Watch the dolphins. Barrier Island Eco Tours takes visitors out to learn more about the marsh ecosystem and the area wildlife. Watch dolphins play in the water while you see the coast from the water. You can sometimes catch sight of dolphins at Shem Creek Park.

7. Cast a line. Isle of Palms is a fisherman’s paradise, with plenty of places to reel in your catch. Fish from a public fishing pier, surf, or book a charter trip

8. Chow down. What’s a coastal vacation without a delicious seafood dinner? The Boathouse at Breach Inlet is a local staple. Acme Lowcountry Kitchen serves coastal and traditional cuisine with breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. Or enjoy delicious Italian dishes and homemade pasta served with an oceanfront view at Coda Del Pesce.

9. Watch the sunset. There’s nothing quite like watching the sun fade over the horizon during a coastal vacation. Properties like our three bedroom/four baths Pelican Watch 1369 offers amazing views of spectacular sunsets from the deck. Or take a walk on the beach as the sun drops.

10. Shop ’til you drop. Pick up some flip-flops or beach apparel from Island Surf Co. You’ll also find jewelry and great souvenirs from a fantastic stay.
