Celebrate the last hurrah of summer with a Labor Day getaway to South Carolinas beautiful coast. Make wonderful family memories with a classic, All-American beach stay during a long weekend that kicks off on Sept. 3.

Book your stay in a comfortable vacation rental, like the four-bedroom home 2945 Seabrook Island Road, with complimentary access to outdoor and kiddie pools and a five-minute golf car ride to the beach. The one-bedroom 206A Sea Cabins makes a perfect getaway for a couple with easy access to the Isle of Palms Front Beach and the relaxing oceanfront pool.

One way to celebrate the holiday is with an oyster roast. After all, September is the beginning of the oyster season in the Lowcountry. It may be local lore to eat oysters only in months that contain an R,” but it still makes for a good time for a roast.

Buy a dozen oysters per person, fire up the grill, then place the oysters on a large metal slab over the fire. Cover them with a wet burlap bag or wet, clean towel. Serve your roasted oysters with saltine crackers, cocktail sauce, and lemon wedges.

In fact, the property grill makes for a fun-filled cookout with burgers or barbecue while playing backyard games or making a splash in the pool.

Charleston Water Week kicks off on Sept. 4 with a range of water activities planned on the regions tidal rivers, creeks, ocean fronts, and harbors. Venues include Isle of Palms County Park, James Island County Park, Fort Sumter National Monument, and Kiawah Beachwalker Park. Go boating, bodyboarding, Jet Skiing, kitesurfing, kayaking, parasailing, sailing, surfing. You get the idea. The list is endless.

Of course, there is an array of activities you can do on any weekend on the coast. Go horseback riding on the beach at Seabrook Island Equestrian Center. Play a round of golf at one of Kiawah Island Resorts premiere courses. Pamper yourself with a day at Sand & Sea Spa at Wild Dunes Resort.

The world is your oyster during the last holiday weekend of the summer. Ready to take advantage of it?
