Things to Do

If like millions of others, you enjoy documenting your travel experiences on social media, the South Carolina coast offers plenty of scenic sites. After all, Instagram and other social sites are great ways to share your vacation with family and friends and to commemorate your time at the beach. The next time you visit the Charleston Coast, add these Insta-worthy sites to your photo list and get ready to selfie, snap and share!

Under the Isle of Palms Pier

The Isle of Palms beach is a lovely place to enjoy the ocean. Of course, you can snap great photos of the waves, or come at dawn for spectacular sunrise shots. But take a walk under the Isle of Palms pier for iconic photos of your family amid the pilings. Take note: The pier itself is private and gated, but you can access it when walking the beach.

Angel Oak

Angel Oak on John’s Island is estimated to be 400–500 years old. It is, indeed, impressive, standing more than 66 feet tall and measuring 28 feet in circumference. Its longest branch is an astounding 187 feet long! If you’re driving to Kiawah or Seabrook islands from Charleston, you’ll pass right by it. Take the time to stop and snap some photos of this iconic location.

Beachwalker Park on Kiawah Island

One of the most picturesque spots in all of South Carolina, Kiawah Island offers 11 miles of pristine beaches. With breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, a sunrise photo at Beachwalker Park makes a great Instagram post.

Horseback Riding on the Beach

Seabrook Island is one of the few spots in the country that allows beach rides, so whether you want to saddle up or just shoot photos, this is a great place for Insta-worthy photos. The Seabrook Equestrian Center offers tours for riders of every experience level.

Lighthouse and Wildlife

Who doesn’t love a lighthouse photo? The Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve on Folly Island is the perfect spot for a view of the Morris Island Lighthouse. The $1 admission fee gives visitors access to beaches and marshland where you could get shots of wildlife like sea turtles and shorebirds.

Speaking of snapping photos, an oceanfront rental makes it even easier to get those spectacular shots. Our three-bedroom Summer House villa in Wild Dunes offers one of the best views in the entire resort. Just steps from the beach, the corner villa has sweeping views from almost every room.

Now all you have to do is book your stay and pack a bag!
