The Charleston Festival is Historic Charleston Foundation’s longest-running spring tradition, celebrating the heart and soul of Charleston through history, architecture, design, and community-centered experiences. Originally founded in 1947 as the Festival of Houses and Gardens, the festival has grown into a month-long series of exclusive house and garden tours, expert lectures, themed walking tours, music events, workshops, and social gatherings at some of the city’s most iconic historic sites. Featuring opportunities to explore private homes and gardens, enjoy live local music, and deepen your appreciation for Charleston’s unique cultural legacy, this vibrant festival offers something for both longtime locals and visitors alike. All proceeds support Historic Charleston Foundation’s mission to preserve and protect the people, places, and heritage of the Holy City.
